The Consumer Goods Forum -- which includes Procter & Gamble, Nestle, General Mills, Johnson & Johnson, Colgate-Palmolive, Danone, Unilever, L'Oreal and PepsiCo -- has committed to supporting local organizations across the world that supply at-risk residents with food and personal care products. The World Bank has estimated the coronavirus pandemic is forcing up to 150 million more people into extreme poverty.

Apple added more space and attention-grabbing architectural and design elements in the renovation of its flagship on New York City's Fifth Avenue. The 77,000-square-foot store, which opened this week, features 18 mirror-glass sculptures and 62 skylights that flood the store's underground space with natural light.

Mars, Nestle, L'Oreal, Kellogg, Unilever, Danone and several other companies are joining the One Planet Business for Biodiversity initiative launched during the United Nations Climate Action Summit this week. The initiative's three goals aim to improve soil health, expand food-ingredient sources and restore ecosystems.

At the United Nations Climate Action Summit in New York City, Danone CEO Emmanuel Faber announced the company is spearheading a "One Planet Business for Biodiversity" initiative, accompanied by 19 other companies that represent an aggregate $500 billion in annual revenues. The coalition has made several pledges and will make an announcement on its final, measurable commitments by October 2020.

Nonprofit organization CDP has ranked Unilever, L'Oreal, Danone, Nestle and Colgate-Palmolive as the five CPG firms most ready to adapt to the effects of climate change. The factors that CDP considered included use of water, exposure to emissions and climate governance.
