The indigenous Manoki people of Brazil are concerned that recent Amazon wildfires could threaten not only the land but also their language and culture. Only eight of 400 members are fluent speakers of the tribe's native tongue, according to this article, and if they are forced to leave their territory, it is feared that the language and culture could be lost forever.
