Landry's will acquire the upscale Del Frisco's Double Eagle Steakhouses and Del Frisco's Grille chains from private-equity firm L Catterton for an undisclosed amount, in a deal set to close next month. The acquisition will add 35 restaurants to Landry's owner Tilman Fertitta's portfolio of more than 40 banners including Bubba Gump Shrimp Company, Mastro's, Morton's and Rainforest Cafe.

Houston-based Landry's has bid $37 million to buy 35-restaurant casual dining company Restaurants Unlimited. Landry's, which owns more than 60 restaurant brands including Bubba Gump Shrimp Company and Morton's The Steakhouse, is the lead bidder so far for Restaurants Unlimited, which filed for bankruptcy protection in July.

Landry's had the winning bid in a bankruptcy court auction for Ignite Restaurant Group, the parent of Joe's Crab Shack and Brick House Tavern + Tap, Landry's CEO Tilman Fertitta said. Landry's will find a buyer for Brick House and engineer a turnaround at Joe's, a restaurant concept Landry's acquired as a single-unit eatery in 1994 and sold in 2006.

Landry's has made a $55 million bid to buy Joe's Crab Shack parent Ignite Restaurant Group, which filed for bankruptcy protection earlier this month. Landry's said its offer should be considered the so-called "stalking horse" bid in an upcoming auction, over an earlier $50 million bid by private-equity firm Kelly Investment Group.

With more than half of Romanians giving candy as Christmas gifts this year, the nation's chocolate manufacturers say they expect to have made more than $37 million in sales during December. The $287 million Romanian chocolate market is dominated by Kraft Foods, Cadbury and Supreme Chocolate.
