Food retailers are turning to produce to boost sales, including Kroger, which has more fresh seasonal offerings like Cosmic Crisp apples and is teaming with startups to grow herbs in-store and keep fruits and vegetables fresh longer. Walmart has adopted a farmers market aesthetic for its produce section, while Sprouts Farmers Market has rolled out more specialty offerings like Cotton Candy Grapes.
