Sens. Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y., and Sherrod Brown, D-Ohio, have sponsored a bill that would require restaurants with 50 or more employees to give a 60-day warning if they plan to close down. The measure, which would amend the 1988 WARN Act, came in response to Friendly's sudden closure of 23 locations earlier this year, Schumer said.
