The General Assembly of the United Nations has adopted a resolution to mark 2022 as the beginning of International Decade of Indigenous Languages. Passed by the General Assembly on Dec. 18 as the organization prepared to conclude International Year of Indigenous Languages, the resolution calls for a 10-year effort to "urgent need to preserve, revitalize, and promote Indigenous language."
