California announced the Civic Action Fellowship, a pilot program in which eight universities in the state will award up to $10,000 to students to help cover college costs in exchange for them working for a government office or local nonprofit for one semester. "We hope this new partnership with universities will become a model for calling on young people to serve, while helping them pay for college," said Josh Fryday, California chief service officer.
