Opening smaller and cheaper-to-operate stores, along with expanding into new markets, is helping Sprouts Farmers Markets boost its bottom line, and the grocer said it plans to open 20 stores in 2020, adding to the 340 it already operates in 22 states. "All markets, both existing and new, will be supported by a more effective and efficient supply chain, with the goal of lowering costs and improving freshness of food, particularly produce," said CEO Jack Sinclair.
