Financing for offshore wind development increased 319% year-over-year to $35 billion in the first half of 2020, which helped make up for coronavirus-related declines in land-based wind and solar financing, says Bloomberg NEF. The global renewable energy industry, excluding hydropower projects with a capacity of more than 50 megawatts, saw an investment of $132.4 billion in the first half, it says.
