Some Pennsylvania parks and forests have become overwhelmed by visitors, warns the state Department of Conservation and Natural Resources. Alternatives are being offered online.

The Diocese of Greensburg in Pennsylvania has received a record-breaking donation of $2.4 million -- given anonymously -- that officials say will help cover scholarships and tuition assistance for students. The funds are part of the Saint Pope John Paul II Tuition Opportunity Partnership.

Seventeen service plazas on the Pennsylvania Turnpike have been reopened, with restrooms to be made available on a 24-hour basis, according to the Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission. Some food options at service plazas will be available, although only for carryout orders.

Arnold Palmer Regional Airport plans to begin work in March on a $13 million runway widening project. The runway expansion at the Latrobe, Pa., airport will be partially funded by a federal grant.

Lawmakers in Pennsylvania have received a less-than-enthusiastic response to recent legislation that allows casino liquor sales between 2 and 6 a.m., as the extended hours require paying a $1 million fee for the license. Several casino representatives say the additional revenue would not be enough to cover the need for additional staff.
