Nintendo and Disney both possess massive stores of intellectual property, talent and brand devotion, but the video game maker is unlike Disney in how it's deliberately avoiding "the shift to mobile, cross-platform gaming, and server-side experiences," Matthew Ball writes. Nintendo wants to be great at its core strengths rather than scale indefinitely, Ball argues, which has real risk but also means that "innovation, profits, and outstanding games will continue."
