A new robotic surgery tool at the West Virginia University School of Dentistry in Morgantown, W.Va., will allow students to be exposed to the newest technology, a faculty member told WBOY of Clarksburg, W. Va. The new technology is expected to improve precision but will not replace clinicians.

Milken Educator Award winners were recently announced in Virginia, New Jersey and West Virginia, with educators receiving the "Oscars of Teaching" and its $25,000 prize. As many as 40 educators are recognized each year by the awards from the Milken Family Foundation.

West Virginia University will use funding from the National Science Foundation to design an initiative to help curb a growing math teacher shortage. Details of the Mountaineer Mathematics Master Teachers program are still in development and will be presented to administrators.

The first cohort of 17 prekindergarten teachers in West Virginia has earned National Board Certification through a partnership between the West Virginia University College of Education and Human Services and the Claude Worthington Benedum Foundation. The certification is more common among educators who teach kindergarten through 12th grade.
