A portion of data stolen from as many as 272,000 customers of cryptocurrency wallet provider Ledger, which was targeted by a hacking operation this year, has been published on data marketplace RaidForums. Ledger will not reimburse customers, saying it is instead focusing on improving security.

IBM is acquiring Nordcloud, a Finland-based cloud consulting company that IBM says will help bolster its cloud migration services and tools. Nordcloud is certified in Amazon Web Services, Google Cloud and Microsoft Azure.

Israeli security firm NSO Group is disputing reports that its products can be used to collect data from the cloud services of companies such as Amazon, Apple, Facebook, Google and Microsoft. Nevertheless, companies including Amazon and Facebook are investigating the reports, which state that NSO's Pegasus malware can copy authentication keys from targeted phones, enabling a separate server to impersonate the devices.

WhatsApp is warning users that a significant security breach allowed hackers to install spyware on phones via voice calls over the app. The malicious code is believed to come from NSO Group, an Israel-based spyware manufacturer that has recently been the target of legal action from Amnesty International and other human rights groups.

US software vendor Verint Systems is discussing a deal to acquire Israeli cybersecurity company NSO Group for about $1 billion in Verint stock and assumption of NSO debt, a source said. NSO's controlling shareholder, Francisco Partners, will become Verint's biggest shareholder if the deal closes.
