Costco has been thriving in the pandemic and Chief Financial Officer Richard Galanti attributes the wholesaler's robust performance to five key factors, including its belief that e-commerce won't wholly define the future. Galanti also cited fresh food sales' importance to Costco's 2020 success, along with its membership program and large stores that help shoppers with social distancing and allow them to buy more on each trip.

Unilever's sales on Amazon represent a tiny slice of its total sales revenue with the majority of its Amazon products priced below $10, says CFO Graeme Pitkethly. "People are surprised that our Amazon business is only a couple of hundred million," he says.

Snyder's-Lance sees the potential for growth if it expands regional favorite lines like Snyder's of Hanover, Lance sandwich crackers and Kettle chips into stores nationwide, said CFO Alexander Pease. In addition, the firm is considering adding new products that would boost its portfolio in center store and the grocery perimeter, and may consider mergers and acquisitions activity in the future, Pease said.

Amazon still sees India as a promising global market and will continue with plans for significant investments there, despite widening losses, Chief Financial Officer Brian Olsavsky told analysts Thursday. The company plans to invest a minimum of $5 billion in its Indian business by 2022.

The potential launch of Amazon Fresh in the UK may be a boon for other online grocers by spurring more British consumers to shop online, said Duncan Tatton-Brown, Ocado Group's chief financial officer. Ocado, which currently commands less than 20% of the total UK online grocery market, booked a 15% sales increase in its most recent quarter.
