Aura Aero says it will develop a 19-seat electric aircraft. The company is currently working toward the certification of its Integral R two-seat plane.

Bell is expanding its workforce in Wichita, Kan., to support the development of the Invictus 360 and V-280 Valor tiltrotor aircraft for the US Army Future Long-range Assault Aircraft and Future Attack and Reconnaissance Aircraft programs.

L3Harris is working with Lockheed Martin and the US Air Force to finalize a plan for the development of a new electronic warfare system for F-16 Viper fighter jets used internationally. L3Harris executive Ted Damaskinos describes the system as "a virtual electronic shield around the aircraft."

The Government Accountability Office has found danger of duplicating efforts in the Pentagon's push to develop hypersonic weapons, which involves scores of related initiatives across the Defense Department. "DOD itself has not documented the roles, responsibilities, and authorities of the multitude of its organizations, including the military services, that are working on hypersonic weapon development," according to the GAO.

The Army wants to revive its short-range air defense force, including the deployment of 50 Avenger systems to Europe and the potential purchase of new Maneuver SHORAD equipment. The program has suffered due to budget shortfalls.
