Japan's Nuclear Regulation Authority has banned Tokyo Electric Power Company from restarting its seven-reactor Kashiwazaki-Kariwa nuclear power plant for 18 months due to safety issues that require "self-sustained improvement." "What is being questioned now is TEPCO's attitude regarding the protection of nuclear materials," said authority Chairman Toyoshi Fuketa.
