West Virginia University and Pierpont Community and Technical College and Sprouting Farms’ Greenville Farm Kitchen will received $1 million federal funding for agricultural workforce training. The schools will split the money evenly.

Approximately 20 organizations participated in a crisis training session for the Raleigh County, W.Va., Emergency Services Authority. 911 Emergency Planner Cody Fortner says the exercise was the first since the coronavirus pandemic began.

Delta Air Lines Technical Operations is partnering with a new aviation maintenance program being launched by Marshall University and Mountwest Community and Technical College, the first such program in West Virginia. The program will provide students with technical education for jobs in the aviation industry. "We will support you with parts, we will support you with industry best practices, we'll support you with tooling, we'll support you with expertise, we will grow your curriculum, we will grow your students, we will grow your staff," said William Smith, Delta's learning and development director for Technical Operations.

A bill before a Virginia House committee that would create an application process for needle-exchange programs has been revised to mandate approval from local governments and will advance. The bill next goes to the House Judiciary Committee before consideration by the full House.

Lewis County, W.Va., recently appointed James Gum as director of its Office of Emergency Management/E-9-1-1 and Keith Talbert as assistant director, and LaPorte County, Ind., has hired Barb Huston as its E-9-1-1 director. Gum and Talbert say they plan to upgrade equipment and do more outreach over social media, while Huston says, "I'm always up for a challenge."
