A highly unusual explosion on the sun in 2016 that researchers are calling a "solar Rosetta Stone" is described in a study set to be published in The Astrophysical Journal Letters. The event combines three different kinds of eruptions: coronal mass ejections, jets and partial eruptions, and study author Emily Mason calls it "a missing link, where we can see all of these aspects of different types of eruptions in one neat little package."
