General Mills is ramping up its "Accelerate" marketing strategy that aims to improve personal connections with consumers and set its brands apart by using more first-party data, said CEO Jeffrey Harmening. This "connected commerce" approach also applies to how retail and e-commerce strategies connect, as 85% of General Mills' online sales originate from its retail partners, said Jeff Siemon, vice president of investor relations.
