Shaquille O'Neal and partners JRS Hospitality and Authentic Brands have mapped an aggressive growth plan for Shaq's Big Chicken, a concept created by the basketball star in 2018. The chain has started a new franchising program and plans to grow with brick-and-mortar locations as well as ghost kitchens, including as many as 80 opening inside Walmart stores.

Saladworks, which already has in-store locations at Kroger, The Giant Company and ShopRite, plans to open 60 sites inside Walmart stores by the end of this year. The expansion could lead to Saladworks restaurants inside 1,000 Walmart locations by the end of 2022 and the initial sites will be run by new Walmart partner Ghost Kitchen Brands under a deal with Saladworks parent WOWorks.

Canada-based Ghost Kitchen Brands has opened the first of 30 planned US locations in partnership with Walmart. The location at a Walmart store in Rochester, N.Y., lets customers order takeout or delivery via in-store kiosks or a mobile app from 25 restaurant and packaged food brands including Quiznos, Saladworks and Kraft.

Walmart and Ghost Kitchen Brands are collaborating on a project that will bring 60 Saladworks kitchens into Walmart stores around the country. The partnership calls for a total of 90 new kitchens, including 30 planned for Canada, and some locations will offer sit-down dining while all will feature pickup and delivery options.
