Banks and other lenders are raising concerns about the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau's proposed expansion of lending data collection. The Consumer Bankers Association has urged the CFPB to take industry feedback on the complexities of such data collection into consideration and issue "a well-balanced final rule."

Citibank is planning a retail banking center and office space in North Dallas, according to documents filed with the state of Texas. The bank currently does not have a presence in the greater Dallas area.

WesBanco CFO and group head of finance Robert H. Young will retire from the firm at the end of this year. Chief accounting officer Daniel K. Weiss Jr. will replace Young as CFO.

While banks such as JPMorgan Chase, Bank of America and Wells Fargo have boosted available credit to businesses, many companies are hesitant to start spending and are holding onto their cash, experts say. "Our business customers are feeling optimistic," says Perry Pelos, head of commercial banking for Wells Fargo. "But I'm not seeing any boom yet because they are still a little uneasy about the future."

While most banks don't expect to see a big upsurge in business borrowing in the near future, they are more optimistic as companies begin to invest in replacing inventories. "We're seeing companies thinking about things they haven't thought about in years," said Perry Pelos, commercial banking head at Wells Fargo & Co.
