  • Extracellular matrix helps stem cells regrow muscle
    Marine Sgt. Ron Strang, whose left thigh was damaged by a bomb in Afghanistan, was able to walk normally again after the implantation of extracellular matrix that helped him regrow muscle. The matrix was developed from pig tissue and breaks down in the body, where it directs a patient's stem cells to start to build muscle.   • Albuvirtide seems to allow once-weekly dosing for HIV patients
    Weekly IV therapy with albuvirtide, an experimental cell-fusion inhibitor, may be well-tolerated by HIV patients, according to the preliminary results of a midstage study.
