The expected end of a pause on federal student loan payments could mean borrowers will have to resume payments on or before Aug. 29, based on comments by Education Secretary Miguel Cardona at a Senate hearing. With the end of the COVID-19 emergency declaration, "we're preparing our borrowers to restart," Cardona said.
A new law in Tennessee creates a "graduate physician" role for medical school graduates unable to find a medical residency due to the national shortage of residency spots. Tennessee joins Missouri, Arizona, Arkansas, Utah, Kansas, Louisiana and Idaho, allowing medical school graduates to practice primary care under a supervising physician. The Tenn. measure allows two years of practice while awaiting a residency.
