All member colleges of AACOM issued a statement recognizing education inequities and outlining model strategies to improve and support diversity, equity and inclusion across osteopathic medical education.
The West Virginia School of Osteopathic Medicine and Bluefield State University have entered into an agreement that will allow qualified Bluefield students to enter WVSOM's Pre-Osteopathic Medicine Program. "This partnership will identify students who are driven to succeed and who have an early interest in osteopathic medicine, allowing WVSOM to provide mentorship and guidance for successfully navigating the path to medical school," said WVSOM President James Nemitz, PhD.
The season to submit primary medical school applications through the American Association of Colleges of Osteopathic Medicine Application Service typically opens in May of a prospective student's junior year. Students who receive offers from osteopathic medical schools must make a decision about where to attend by May 15 of the following year, and wait-listed applicants may be accepted through the beginning of the academic year.
