Arkansas sees need for more physician residency positions | LUCOM professor researches cancer with medical students | OCOM to collaborate with AdventHealth University
A review by the Arkansas Center for Health Improvement found that physician residency slots in the state are not keeping up with growth in the number of graduates of medical schools, including the New York Institute of Technology College of Osteopathic Medicine at Arkansas State University and the Arkansas College of Osteopathic Medicine.
Liberty University College of Osteopathic Medicine is seeking medical students to help research new ways to target and kill cancer cells using mast cells under a National Cancer Institute grant. Two medical students involved in the research presented a poster at a meeting of the Society for Immunotherapy for Cancer in November.
The Orlando College of Osteopathic Medicine and AdventHealth University have formed a partnership that will guarantee certain AdventHealth students medical school admissions interviews. The Arkansas Colleges of Health Education has added a new commercial site that increases living space and services beside the Arkansas College of Osteopathic Medicine. The mixed-use development includes restaurants, housing and retail.

During the National Academies of Medicine's recent Clinician Well-Being Collaborative event, Natasha Bray, DO, dean of Oklahoma State University College of Osteopathic Medicine at Cherokee Nation, served as a panelist for the "Strategies to Reach the Quintuple Aim" session. Dr. Bray explored strategies to increase DEI among healthcare professionals and care for vulnerable populations. Watch the session.
