Healthcare Corporation of America, which operates some 180 hospitals, is expanding AI intelligence tools in care delivery models. HCA is already using Google's AI along with the Augmedix ambient documentation tool and natural language processing for clinical documentation, and has developed a large language model to generate patient handoff reports automatically.
Under a partnership deal, DoMore Diagnostics and Proscia will integrate their Histotype Px Colorectal digital biomarker and Concentriq Dx digital pathology platform, respectively, to help in predicting outcomes for patients with colorectal cancer. The companies will also work on integrating decision support guided by artificial intelligence into routine pathology operations.
Under a collaboration deal, users of Oura's Oura health tracking ring will be able to send their daily movement and personalized sleep data to therapists under Talkspace. "By partnering with Talkspace, we can help providers understand the impact sleep has on mental health and vice versa to inform the care they provide and equip users to start an informed dialogue with their providers," said Oura Chief Commercial Officer Dorothy Kilroy.

Epic's Sepsis Prediction Model outperformed the accuracy and specificity of three other clinical decision support tools at higher threshold predictions, but its timeliness with sepsis prediction was poor, according to research published in JAMA Network Open. Researchers note that the Epic tool's prediction can occur long after clinicians recognize sepsis as a result of its timeliness issues, lack of transparency and sepsis score complexity.
An FDG-PET/CT scan used with a thyroid biopsy led to a change in one patient's diagnosis from terminal presumed dementia due to Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease to treatable sarcoidosis, according to a study in Radiology Case Reports. "Our case emphasizes the role of FDG-PET in diagnosing sarcoidosis as a means of providing initial hints to a systemic process as well as providing targets for tissue confirmation biopsy," physicians said.

The iTempShield device and software system from Aion Biosystems has received 510(k) clearance from the FDA. The skin-wearable body temperature monitoring device has received clearance for use in individuals who are at least 5 years old.
