Researchers from Ohio University Heritage College of Osteopathic Medicine have found the CIDEC gene plays a role in improving cardiovascular health in the presence of metabolic dysfunction. "We have moved in the right direction to find a way to reduce cardiovascular diseases," said lead author Vishwajeet Puri, PhD, a professor of biomedical sciences.
A new method of analyzing the responses of infants' auditory brainstems to sound can identify differences between infants later diagnosed with autism and those who were not later diagnosed with autism, according to a study in PNAS Nexus. "The novelty of the study is that they are taking simple recordings and getting a lot of information out of it, and that has not been done before," commented Randy Kulesza, PhD., a professor and director of anatomy at Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine.
In the latest edition of the American College of Osteopathic Internists (ACOI) newsletter, ACOinfo, Dr. Cain guest-authored an article explaining the need for Congress to pass the Fair Access In Residency (FAIR) Act, H.R. 751. "As osteopathic medical educators and internists, we must take steps to advance fairness in residency access for our future osteopathic physicians," said Dr. Cain.
The Senior Leadership Development Program (SLDP) provides a unique opportunity for one-on-one and group engagement with experienced college of osteopathic medicine deans who serve as mentors.
