A United Arab Emirates project that transformed a dump into a natural wetland ecosystem friendly to visitors has earned an Aga Khan Award for Architecture. Designers from Dubai-based X-architects minimized the intrusion of buildings on the 20-acre site with sensitivity to the area's natural topography, while also incorporating a ramp for visitors and a viewing gallery.
