ANA President Pamela Cipriano was named to Modern Healthcare's annual list of the 100 most influential people in health care for the fourth consecutive year. President Donald Trump topped this year's list, which focuses on disruption taking place across the health care system.

ANA President Pamela Cipriano, PhD, RN, NEA-BC, FAAN, defended advanced practice registered nurses in a statement responding to the American Medical Association's adoption of a lobbying agenda that opposes independent practice for non-physician providers of health care. "For AMA to imply that APRNs are incapable of providing excellent care or that their care puts the patient at risk is blatantly dishonest. The future of health care calls on all health care professionals to work together as a team to meet the growing demand for health care services," said Cipriano.

Nurses take on a multitude of roles as part of their profession, and keeping themselves healthy is challenge as well, which is why ANA has launched an initiative called the Healthy Nurse, Healthy Nation Grand Challenge, ANA President Pamela Cipriano writes. "It's important that each nurse develop a plan that fits their individual lifestyle, and there are many ways nurses and employers of nurses are incorporating important lifestyle changes," Cipriano writes.

The ANA and the CDC announced the launch of the Nursing Infection Control Education Network to help nurses prevent and control infectious diseases. "Like the CDC, we recognize that nurses are on the front lines of delivering care and should be fully equipped to tackle emerging threats to protect themselves and the people they serve," said ANA President Pamela Cipriano.
