Study evaluates MR-assisted PET data optimization

PET images that were reconstructed using MR-assisted PET data optimization had improved quality, regardless of patients' head movements, and leveraged the Cohen's d metric to better differentiate hypometabolic cortical regions from regions with preserved metabolism, compared with images reconstructed with attenuation correction, according to a study in the Journal of Nuclear Medicine. The findings suggest that MaPET may improve pathological change evaluations in patients with neurological disorders such as dementia, researchers said.
