Wis. pilot honored with FAA Master Pilot award

Roger Fetterly, a Marine Corps veteran who trained in 1957 in a T-34 Beechcraft, has been honored with the Federal Aviation Administration Wright Brothers Master Pilot Award for 50 years of dedication to aviation and safe flying. Fetterly is a member of the University of Wisconsin Flying Club, has flown more than 250 Young Eagles and recently received his civilian instructor rating.

The Federal Aviation Administration on June 23 honored Bob Hoff with its Wright Brothers Master Pilot Award, which is reserved for pilots who have flown at least 50 years and displayed professionalism, skill and aviation expertise. "Bob gives so much to aviation and shares so much that it's fun to see him get the well-deserved recognition," said AOPA President Mark Baker.

Pilot Tom Sharpe, who served in the Air Force and went on to fly for commercial airlines, received the Federal Aviation Administration's Wright Brothers Master Pilot Award at the Oct. 1 ceremony at Tennessee's Johnson County Airport. The award is reserved for pilots who have exhibited professionalism, skill and expertise for at least 50 years of piloting aircraft.

Robert Fox, 66, celebrated his 50th year as a pilot, having first soloed at age 16. Fox was awarded the Federal Aviation Administration's Master Pilot Award for 50 years of accident-free flight.
