New York City Health + Hospitals, the nation's largest safety net health system, was able to treat more than 16,000 patients in the first year of its virtual urgent-care program, which was launched at the height of the pandemic last year, according to Erfan Karim, senior director of mobile integrated health. Karim says successful implementation of a telemedicine program depends on being able to understand and mitigate failure points for patients and accounting for current clinical workflows.
