Rhonda Medows of Ayin Health Solutions and Providence St. Joseph Health suggested six steps healthcare organizations could consider to prevent revenue cycle challenges when signing value-based contracts. Before signing, organizations should understand and assess the size of the patient population, know the provider network, restrict the maximum claim denial rate, recognize the differences between payers and the payer mix for the hospital, and evaluate the hospital's current interventions, patient care and services.
