The Skyborg program for the US Air Force Research Lab and Air Force Lifecycle Management Center is making fast progress, with the goal of having the capability of relatively inexpensive, autonomous drones flying in coordination with piloted aircraft by 2023. Boeing, General Atomics and Kratos are all working on the program.
