FARA, FLRAA programs benefit from industry investment

The US Army is investing $7 billion to produce 18 total prototypes for the Future Attack Reconnaissance Aircraft and Future Long-Range Assault Aircraft programs, learning from the cancellation of the 2004 Comanche helicopter program which spent billions to develop only two prototypes. Maj. Gen. Walter Rugen says industry partners such as Boeing, Sikorsky and Bell have spent heavily on the programs and have "significant skin in the game."

Army shifts focus to multidomain operations

The US Army is finalizing its Multidomain Operations doctrine for release in the summer of 2022, which describes the Army's vision for operations across domains beyond land wars. "What you will see in the immediate term is investment in force structure changes, whether we need to change an organization to be better able to employ the technologies that we are developing as we look at the doctrine and how we might fight differently," said Lt. Gen. D. Scott McKean.
