New NGICP owner plans next phase of growth

The Water Environment Federation recently transferred ownership of its National Green Infrastructure Certification Program to EnviroCert International, an established training and certification organization that has issued over 40,000 credentials to environmental professionals in more than 40 countries. "WEF conducted a rigorous search to identify a partner best-suited to help NGICP reach more would-be green infrastructure professionals and become a better resource for the future of the stormwater management sector," said Adriana Caldarelli, director of the WEF Stormwater Institute.

WEF celebrates 10th anniversary of Stormwater Report

To commemorate the 10th anniversary of Stormwater Report, the Water Environment Federation has overhauled the site. The new Stormwater Report offers a smoother user experience as well as additional opportunities for participation from readers, many of whom are stormwater experts themselves. As always, readers can expect at least one new article on the site each week, as well as a monthly email digest of Stormwater Report delivered to their inboxes.

WEF's WLI builds better stormwater professionals

The Water Leadership Institute program developed by the Water Environment Federation is an intensive, 7-month training seminar, aiming to teach management skills to the water workforce and help lay the groundwork for strong professional networks. The curriculum incorporates lessons about both managing personnel and addressing broader water-sector challenges.

WEF names Dr. Andrew Sanderson as chief medical officer

To ensure protection of the health and safety of wastewater workers during the coronavirus pandemic and into the future, Andrew Sanderson, MD, MPH, of Howard University has been named Chief Medical Officer for the Water Environment Federation.

As Chief Medical Officer, Dr. Sanderson will guide and assist WEF in providing reliable medical information to wastewater utility managers and workers, as well as conduct research and serve as a spokesperson on medical issues for the sector. He will be supported by a graduate student from Howard University.

WEF experts weigh in on EPA industrial stormwater permit

In June, experts from the Water Environment Federation answered the Environmental Protection Agency's call for water-sector feedback about proposed changes to the 2020 Multi-Sector General Permit. "WEF's comments and recommendations, prepared by a team of subject matter experts and stormwater practitioners, will help shape a clear, robust, and actionable update to EPA's Multi-Sector General Permit for industrial stormwater discharges if implemented," says WEF's Claudio Ternieden.
