Foot traffic at New York retail centers varies

New York shopping centers reopened almost a year ago, but some have not seen an increase in foot traffic, such as Westfield World Trade Center, which is down 48% from its usual numbers, according to analytics firm Placer.ai. However, foot traffic at SoHo BID is up 115% over 2019 numbers and the Shops & Restaurants at Hudson Yards have also seen an increase, according to the data.

Victoria's Secret sued by New York retail center over rent

Commercial real estate company Unibail-Rodamco-Westfield is suing Victoria's Secret for $32 million in unpaid rent and damages. Westfield claims the retailer left the Westfield World Trade Center wrongfully while Victoria's Secret executives say the company violated co-tenancy agreements by not having more than 75% of the mall's stores open and operating for more than a year.

OOH digital exhibit explores Black land ownership

Westfield World Trade Center in New York City partnered with Black Gotham Experience to fill unused digital ad space on 22 screens with an installation dubbed "Land of the Blacks." The exhibit includes a 2-minute loop of graphics, maps and photography that illustrate the connection between the location and 17th century Black land ownership.
