Chinese e-commerce player JD.com has promoted Xu Lei, the executive who heads the company's retail division, to president. Naming the company's first president will allow CEO Richard Liu, who started the company in 2004 to sell electronics online, to ease off day-to-day operations to focus more on big-picture planning.
