Improper installation named as possible cause for AA loose seats:
Improperly installed clamps are the suspected cause for seats coming loose on three American Airlines flights over the weekend, the airline said Tuesday. The clamp is part of the mechanism that attaches seats to the cabin floor. The airline has inspected 36 of the 47 affected planes and has plans to inspect the rest soon. The Federal Aviation Administration is also investigating the issue.
