It's official: Time Warner Cable will create Dodgers' sports net
Time Warner Cable, in a 25-year deal with the Los Angeles Dodgers said to be valued at $7 billion to $8 billion, will create a regional sports network called SportsNet LA in Southern California. Under the deal, Time Warner Cable will handle negotiations for local affiliate fees from rival pay-TV providers. It will also negotiate ad contracts and receive specific branding and TV programming rights. The agreement, which involves the creation of a third-party firm, American Media Productions, is subject to approval by Major League Baseball.
