AAR records growth in carload, intermodal traffic during latest week
Both freight carload volume and intermodal activity of U.S. railroads rose 2.8% in the week ending May 4 year-on-year, according to the Association of American Railroads. Of the 10 carload categories, six posted gains, with petroleum and petroleum products posting a 52.4% increase. North American chemical shipments also increased 1.7%, AAR noted.
