Large share of ED visits made by adults with disabilities
Nearly 40% of emergency department visits in the U.S. involved working-age adults with disabilities, NIH researchers reported in the journal Health Services Research. An analysis of the Medical Expenditure Panel Survey found that the severity of a disability's limitations correlated with greater use of emergency departments as did lack of access to primary care.
