Newer cancer drugs are tied to higher toxicity in study
A meta-analysis found that several newly approved drugs for cancer raise treatment-related mortality and morbidity. "Despite improvements in efficacy with the use of new molecular targeted and chemotherapeutic agents, most cancers remain incurable," researchers said. The finding is especially important for clinicians in a palliative setting, where most of the drugs are being used, researcher Eitan Amir said.
