Tiny ridges in material make big difference in repelling liquids
By adding minute ridges 0.1 millimeter high to a water-resistant material, a team at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology has demonstrated that liquids can be repelled even faster than previously thought possible. The ridges caused liquid to splash away asymmetrically, producing a 37% faster recoil than the same material without ridges.
