Black Elk Energy has launched an internal probe of a lethal blast on one of its oil platforms in the Gulf of Mexico. Platform workers were engaged in a construction project when the incident occurred, the company said. The Bureau of Safety and Environmental Enforcement is also investigating the explosion.
