NYC parents told to brace for lower test scores under common core
As students in New York City this week begin taking new, more rigorous exams aligned with Common Core State Standards, officials have launched an ad campaign intended to inform parents about the new benchmarks -- warning that students' scores may be lower than in past years because of the tougher standards. The effort comes as some parents already have announced their plans to opt their students out of the high-stakes exams.
