Texas districts raise class sizes rather than hire more teachers
Some school districts in Texas are reporting larger class sizes as school budgets are cut and a lawsuit regarding education funding drags on. Without a state-imposed limited on class sizes for the fifth through 12th grades, officials say the least costly option is to increase class sizes rather than hire more teachers. The issue, however, has raised concerns that larger class sizes will harm students' achievement.
