Teachers at sister schools take training on the road
Teachers at schools in Alabama and New York City are learning from each other through a sister-schools program, which has included visits to each school site. Already teachers say they have benefited from the visits, with teachers in Alabama able to reach students in New York City and their teachers observing high-performing teachers in Alabama. "Even though we are very different I think that's exactly what makes it a good partnership," said Chris Birkel, a New York City history teacher.
