Advanced Cell Technology will seek regulatory approval for a clinical trial involving platelets made from patients' own adult cells reprogrammed as stem cells. The platelets could reduce the risk of resistance that comes with repeat infusions for the treatment of anemia, leukemia and other conditions. The trial could begin before 2014.
