U.S. airlines reported fewer long tarmac delays in 2012
U.S. airlines reported fewer tarmac delays of longer than three hours in 2012. The airlines had 42 lengthy tarmac delays for the year, compared with 50 in 2011, the Bureau of Transportation Statistics says. Airlines also reported the lowest rate of mishandled luggage since record keeping began in 1987.
